LIGHTNING PROTECTION

Lightning can devastate mature trees often killing them immediately or weakening them so that they are at an increased risk for insect and disease attacks. Tall trees are obviously the most susceptible to strikes. Unfortunately, these mature trees are often the most valuable to the landscape and therefore worthy of protecting.

We offer proven lightning protection systems consisting of copper conductors installed at the very top of the canopy and extending to a ground rod. This conducts the charge to the ground where the energy can be dispersed while minimizing any impact to the itself.

Our lightning protection systems are installed in accordance with ANSI (America National Standards Institute) A300 Standards, which are adopted by the Tree Care Industry Association. While lightning is unpredictable, and full protection cannot be completely guaranteed, systems installed under these standards are a cost-effective solution. 

Lightning protection systems should be inspected annually to ensure they remain intact. Tree growth will need to be accommodated by regularly extending conductors and adjusting fasteners.
