CONSTRUCTION PLANNING
If you are thinking about adding a deck or a pool to your backyard, but concerned about losing that special tree or shrubs, we can help. Construction on your property can cause damage to your existing trees, but proper planning and measures to protect your trees can minimize damage and add years to your tree’s life. We are experienced in working with homeowners, historical societies, HOAs, and developers to help in planning construction projects so that trees are not harmed.
Establishing a Tree Protection Zone with barriers or fencing around valuable trees to keep equipment as far away as possible, proper pruning for required clearance, preventing or mitigating soil compaction, tree excavation and root pruning are some of the ways Aerial Innovations can help your trees thrive during and after construction. When you’re relaxing on your new deck under the shade of your healthy old oak tree, you’ll be glad you called us.

We were called to this property by a homeowner who recently finished building a beautiful new log cabin on a wooded lot. He was concerned that two of his mature trees, that would have been central focal points of the new landscape, were showing signs of stress via discolored leaves and dieback in the canopy.
When we arrived on site it was clear, as this picture shows, the root system of these trees was under quite a bit of stress. Essentially, the contractors used the tree as a storage area for their building materials and the pathway for their heavy equipment had severed a main portion of the root system. Unfortunately, this damage is common since we often think of trees as strong or permanent. Like any living thing, major changes or stresses to the environment can be disastrous. A little planning and collaboration between arborists and builders can go a long way to save money on remedial or removal work in the future and retain the beauty of your landscape.
